The Colonial Pennsylvania Farmstead was founded in 1973 by a team of individuals deeply interested in preserving the lifeways, crafts and skills of colonial Pennsylvanians.  We continue today to educate visitors about a way of life that is slowly being forgotten.

Our mission is to educate, but our wish is to inspire–to inspire creativity, a love of nature, an appreciation for hard work, and the joy of working as a team to ensure success and survival.

We are not a museum of objects, but of discovery. At our site, visitors learn about the lives of colonial farm families by doing the tasks that they did–spinning,  blacksmithing, caring for animals, sowing and harvesting crops, and more.

We are able to maintain our place in the local and historical community through the generous contributions of our members, our donors, and our volunteers.

Unless otherwise noted, all donations will be used for the general operating costs of running a historic site including but not limited to animal care,  site maintenance and restoration, staff salaries, professional development and training, and educational, public programming, and special event expenses.
